Created as part of PHA’s inaugural Artists Celebration, the ceramic beans are made possible through the PHA Ceramics Studio’s state-of-the-art fabrication facilities and equipment. The unique glazes on each ceramic bean object capture the bean type’s colorful resemblance.

About this bean: This heirloom was brought from Tennessee by the Cherokee people as they were forced to march to Oklahoma in 1839 by the U.S. federal government along the infamous “Trail of Tears,” a journey that caused the deaths of many and inflicted suffering on countless others. Palatable as both a green and dry bean, this variety has shiny black skin. It is prolific and grows on vigorous vines.

Please note these are one-of-a-kind objects and their coloring and designs and will vary upon purchase.
