Created as part of PHA’s inaugural Artists Celebration, the ceramic beans are made possible through the PHA Ceramics Studio’s state-of-the-art fabrication facilities and equipment. The unique glazes on each ceramic bean capture the bean type’s colorful resemblance.

About this bean: In 1696, Dutch Botanist Abraham Munting wrote in his book An Accurate Description of Crops that the Stiense Boon has a “fiery red color that is quite attractive to the eye.” He also noted that the bean is known to many as the Piet Hein bean, because Admiral Piet Hein–who captured the Spanish Silver Fleet in 1628– first brought it from America to the Netherlands.

Please note these are one-of-a-kind objects and their coloring and designs and will vary upon purchase.
