Created as part of PHA’s inaugural Artists Celebration, the ceramic beans are made possible through the PHA Ceramics Studio’s state-of-the-art fabrication facilities and equipment. The unique glazes on each ceramic bean capture the bean type’s colorful resemblance.

About this bean: Originally grown by the native tribes along the Missouri River, this bean was sent to Europe in 1817 and then sent back to America in 1837, where the Landreth Seed Co. first listed it. First used as a snap bean and best when picked young, the seed is pink mottled with cream to lighter pink and is about the size of a kidney bean. It is both extremely rare and historic.
